Submissions are open to everyone, and we encourage simultaneous submissions! If a piece becomes unavailable please contact us. Our submission window is currently open from March 1st – May 31st.
We do not accept previously published works. Please refer to the guidelines below:
- 2-5 Poems, 50 lines or less
- Flash Fiction, 1,000 words or less
- Short Stories, 3,200 words or less
- Submission is FREE! Please submit in Word Document Format (We No Longer Accept PDF Format)
- We do not offer payment for accepted work
Submissions can be made to thetownsquareliterarymagazine@gmail.com, please include the following in your email submission,
- work type in the subject line (e.g., Poetry Submission)
- a short artist statement in the body of your email
- 3rd person biography, 60 words or less.
Response Time:
We take special care when reviewing submissions, and will usually respond within three months. Please wait until the allotted time has passed to send any inquiries. Poetry inquiries can be sent to poetryeditor@townsquaremag.com. Flash fiction and short story inquiries can be sent to fictioneditor@townsquaremag.com.
Veterans, Military Service Members, Military Spouses & Family Members
The Town Square offers special recognition of accepted works for those who hold military affiliations. Thank you for your service! Please include your branch of service or the branch of service of your veteran or service member in the body of your email. You are also encouraged to include a brief 60-word summary of your time in service or a biography, whichever is your preferred choice. Submissions do not have to pertain to military service.
